So many events will take place within your wedding! From your first dance to your exit, you can choose a unique song for each. However, with some moments being short and others long, you will want to ensure that the right length is presented for each event within your big day.

Tips for Your First Dance

Do you know how long to play songs for your wedding festivities?

We understand that you will want your wedding music to be perfectly presented! That’s why, here at Philadelphia String Quartet, we have gathered some tips to assist you in properly timing your wedding ceremony music. Would you like to learn what these tips are? If so, be sure to read on to discover them:

·         The prelude. Your wedding ceremony prelude is the time before your ceremony as guests take their seats. Music being presented during this time will provide great entertainment, and create an inviting atmosphere. Your prelude should last approximately 30 minutes, as this will give your guests enough time to arrive and get seated. In addition, consider playing mellow music, to set just the right ambience.

·         The processional. The wedding processional is the time when your wedding party will walk down the aisle. Typically, the length of your processional song will depend on how many members you have within your wedding party, such as your bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girl, and ring bearer. However, this moment usually lasts about two to three minutes.

·         The recessional. After you have been pronounced husband and wife, it will be time to make your way back down the aisle, also known as the recessional. For this moment, choose a song that is energizing, as a way to celebrate and get your guests in a festive mood for your reception. In addition, two to three minutes would be ideal timing, as this will give you time to mingle and snap a few photos before you venture off to sign your marriage license.
