Who is PSQ?

Philadelphia String Quartet, Philly Strings, Philly Q, or just PSQ. These are the names people know us by. But make no mistake – we are not just a regular string quartet. We are so much more than that.

PSQ is a community of around 30 musicians who come together in forms of many different ensembles to celebrate the joy of giving music. We LOVE performing in concerts! We also love celebrating people and important events in their lives. Over the past 15 years we have performed in thousands of private concerts, weddings and corporate parties and dinners. Some of our musicians are Curtis & Juilliard graduates, some went to jazz school, and others taught themselves how to play. We might all come from different backgrounds, but we all equally put our hearts out there, because music is our life. We are proud of our achievements and we will always give our best, whether it’s our concert or your special event.

Our Philosophy

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

We believe that one sound can change everything and getting it right is more important than just getting it done. We don't stop until the job is done right.

We are a team built on honor.

We do not let personal preference keep us from performing and serving people who are from a different background than us – older, younger, or musically uneducated. We treat everyone like the VIP they are.

We believe that responsibility is a team sport.

You will never hear us say “That’s not my job!” or “No one ever told me to do that!” Everyone is involved – from rehearsals and recordings to weddings and concerts. Everyone answers questions, and looks for opportunities to make PSQ a better ensemble. Serving well is everyone’s job.

We serve like we are on the main stage.

We step out of our rehearsals, performances and meetings aware that our audience is watching us. Our music, actions, and inaction communicate who we are and what we value. We know that nothing that is alive stays the same forever. We are flexible, adaptable, and we roll with the punches.
